MapKeyboard – Free Program to Remap your Keyboard
Do you like it that when you play a computer game and you press the Windows button on the keyboard, you are taken out of the game? Alternatively, do you like that when you press F1 in an application, the Help file immediately appears?
If you answered “No” to the two questions above, then you need to take a look at a software application developed by InchWest called MapKeyboard. As the name so adequately points out, this application can be used to map your keyboard.
What does this mean?
It means that you can disable the Windows button on the keyboard, the F1 key, and any other key that you want. When you press the Windows button, nothing will happen – so you can go about your game. When you press the F1 button by accident, the Help file will no longer show up and annoy you. Have any other keys that annoy you? You can easily disable them with MapKeyboard.
You can also use MapKeyboard to change what a particular key does. For example when you press the A keyboard, the letter A shows up in the text editor you’re using. With MapKeyboard you can set it up so that when you press A, the letter O shows up.
Here are some other bits and pieces you need to know about MapKeyboard. The download weighs in at some 30KB, so even on a very bad internet connection, the download should complete in no time at all. What you’re downloading is an archive -> inside the archive there’s a folder -> inside the folder there’s an executable file -> launch that file and MapKeyboard is up and running. That’s right, MapKeyboard does not have to be installed – which means it is portable.
You can use MapKeyboard for as long as you want without having to pay anything in return. This is because the application is freeware.
